Introduction to the 2013 Tokyo Chinese Evangelical Conference

[The 2013 Tokyo Chinese Evangelical Conference] was held from May 11~12, 2013, at the Tokyo Chuo Church. The speaker was Pastor Yuan Zhiming, a world-famous Chinese evangelist. The hymnist of “Canaan Hymns” Ms. Xiao Min visited Japan in order to give her testimony at the conference. Ms. Lv Liping, an actress born in Beijing who received the Golden Horse Actress Award (a representative film award in the Chinese cultural sphere), and her husband the movie director Mr. Sung Haiying, both went up onto the speaker’s platform. A total of more than 2,910 people attended this conference from all over Japan, from Kyushu to the south and Hokkaido to the north. From each church over 150 brothers and sisters were united in one heart to seek the will of the Lord and serve Him. More than 21 churches actually participated in ministries, and 41 churches volunteered to participate in follow-up ministries with attendees who decided to become Christians. In addition, more than 100 attendees decided to dedicate their lives to God. We were full of gratitude in Japan, where workers are insufficient. Everything started with God, God moved it forward, and God will perfect everything.

Speaker and Guests

The speaker Pastor Yuan Zhiming is one of the authors of 「River Elegy」 which became the topic of conversations in China. He was the general director of the VTR’s “Province of God,” “The Cross,” “The Gospel,” “The Other Side,” etc. He is a Chinese evangelist known throughout the Chinese churches around the world. Currently he is general director of China Soul for Christ Foundation. He is the author of “Lao Tzu and The Bible,” “Short Subjects on Faith” “China’s Confession” etc. DVD’s of his testimonies: “Why I Believe in Jesus” “Come close to Jesus,” “The One and Only Jesus,” etc.

Ms. Xiao Min is a legendary figure in China. She was born in a village in Henan Province. She left school after the first year of junior high school. She cannot read musical scores but presented her first hymn when she believed in Jesus at the age of 19. To date she has composed 1,540 hymns. Amongst them the most famous are “The Closest Spiritual Friend” and “Heavenly Songs,” which have been loved by Chinese Christians all over the world and have become scriptural hymns.

Mr. Sun Haiying and Ms. Lv Liping were married when they costarred in the TV drama “Days of Burning Passion.” Presently, with their strong faith in God, they endeavor to interpret genuine and ever more wonderful love on the screen. Mr. Sun has acted in more than 10 movies and TV dramas such as “Fallen Leaves Return to their Roots,” “Transfer Shui Condor Heroes” etc. He has commented that “Christians in all occupations and workplaces should return the glory to God using the excellent gifts God blessed them with.” Ms. Lv Liping has starred in the movies “Old Well” “The Blue Kite” “Story Editorial Department” etc. She received the Best Actress Golden Horse Award for starring in the 2010 movie “Play It Cool youth” At the award ceremony Ms. Lv Liping couldn’t help crying out “Thanks to Almighty God!”

Follow-Up of Evangelical Conference

We thank the Lord for his great compassion. There were 241 persons who decided to believe in Jesus at the 2013 Tokyo Chinese Evangelical Conference. After the conference, in order to follow-up with these 241, coworkers contacted each one of them by phone. By July 18, 2013, the majority joined churches.
